That thing in front of the 240.00 means pounds. The calculator below allows an input of the amount and to select which country / money to convert to another countries money. The pound symbol is used by several of the British soverign states (I don't know exactly here what to call Australia, New Zeland, Bermuda, etc).
If this is Great Britain pound sterling to USD it converts to $398.902 USD at today's exchange.
