no i don't think you can donate blood because if you donate blood who ever gets your blood will most likely develop Diabetes from your blood

Yes, you can donate blood. The recipient of the blood will be the person making their own insulin and whose receptor cells will be responsible for accepting the insulin. Your blood will just be in charge of transporting the insulin and glucose, and diabetes has nothing to do with your blood's ability to transfer blood.

No, you cannot not..I am a diabetic and they do not allow it to be given.

Carter Blood Center is the largest for having blood drives, they do not allow it to be done.

So, instead of giving blood, I donate a full 8 hrs for a blood drive to help out each month.

Also, when my niece got hurt,I am the same blood type as she is, and they the hospital also said, they could not take my blood due to being a diabetic.

You can check with your local blood bank and see if they allow it, but here they do not at all.

And now, Red Cross has a sign posted in the blood mobiles and in their blood sites, we do not accept Diabetics for blood donors

But, again try and see.

Yes. My dad donates blood all the time and he is Type 2.

I, however, cannot.

ADD:

"Donors with well-established (not recently diagnosed) diabetes, who are controlled by diet, oral medications and/or insulin therapy, are eligible to donate"

Red Cross:
General Guidelines:
""Healthy" means that you feel well and can perform normal activities. If you have a chronic condition such as diabetes or high blood pressure, "healthy" also means that you are being treated and the condition is under control."
