Can I rinse Tire Wet from my pavement to keep it from staining?

Postby MrJMan on Thu Oct 22, 2009 5:00 pm

Many years ago when we rented a house with a garage, I used a pad applicator to apply a sheen to my car's tires so that it would not drip and stain the concrete. When we lived in an apartment, my dad would use tire wet on his car tires in the parking lot and after a while it stained the ground to a point where the stains would never come up even through a ton of thunderstorms.

Now I am a homeowner and the driveway still looks brand new since this house is only a couple of years old. I am wondering if I can spray tire wet on my tires and then use the waterhose to wash off the stuff that dripped from my tires immediately and if that would prevent staining the driveway? Thanks.

The stuff doesn't rinse off. You need evil chemicals to tackle it. And besides, it's a petroleum based product and could cause havoc once it gets in the storm drains and into natural water sources.
You could use cardboard or newspaper under the wheels or use the sponge.
It would also be a good idea to look into one of the newer tire shine products that do not contain petroleum solvents.
