Can I have two receptions?

I definitely want to have a ceremony in February, but cost won't allow to have a reception till a later date.Is it a good idea to have a reception later in the year such as July? What do you think about the idea of having a very small Hors D'oeuvres reception in feb after the ceremony and having a big reception in July?

I want the February date as the wedding date. The 2010 date to be exact. Im weird about numbers... So it either has to Feb or July 2010 (which I dont really want but other do) after that I wouldnt be able to do it til 2012 .

NOT. If you have to wait until July for the reception , just get married in July.

I would only go to the one in Feb, after the ceremony.

I think that is a great idea. I friend of mine got married in Hawaii with just her family and then a couple of months later had a reception for her friends and family back home. I have another friend who did the same thing when she got married in another country.

It makes me wonder what the point of a reception in July would be.
5 months isn't a big deal, I say just wait to have the wedding and reception in July.

honestly that is a little strange. Why not wait until the following February to get married if you can't afford it? If I were a guest I would almost look at it as greedy, whereas what is the real point of the reception 6 months later?

I think an hors d'oeuvres reception after the wedding is a great idea but if you want to have a really big reception with dinner and dancing and all then I would just get married in July.

Only if it is a destination wedding would I say its okay to have 2 receptions (aminly for the guests who were not able to attend). Otherwise, I think this would be viewed as strange... Probably best to wait or do a reception with hors d'oeurvres and cocktails if you do not want to wait.

I would just put on the invitation somehow that it will be hors d'oeurvres and cocktails so guests are not expecting plated dinner.

It would be tricky to make it work with out being weird. It you want to have the small reception after maybe you could call the 2nd one something else.

If you are willing to wait to have a big reception...what about on your 1st anniversary? You could celebrate not only your wedding but your first year of marriage with family and friends.

If you are insistant on only those dates, then wait until July and have the whole thing then.

I have never heard of having a February ceremony and a July reception. That doesn't make sense. Just do everything in July. It's really not that far off!

I think this is a great idea. Since you have two specific dates one in February, use that as the wedding date and have the big reception on the date in July. Problem solved!
