Can I have two receptions?

My dear, you may have as many receptions as you like, and can afford. What a shame that offering hospitality to your friends has come to be seen as "a little weird"! Unusual, yes it is that -- just as consideration, generosity, and kindness are becoming unusual. But don't let that stop you: someone needs to resist the tide of selfishness!

The first reception, assuming it is held immediately following your wedding ceremony, will be a "wedding reception". The second will be your "At Home reception". Brides have traditionally, for centuries, held an at-home reception when they return from their honeymoon and are "settled in" to their new life, as a way of resuming their social duties and announcing to society that they are once again "at home" to visitors. Do, absolutely, feel free to breath some life back into this gracious tradition!
