Are you annoyed with people who take their dogs to dog-unfriendly public places?

Today, & I kid you not, a girl brought her little, overweight chihuahuaX to school!

The dog was just sitting in her bag panting all class period.

When a teacher walked by or something, she'd cover the bag with a jacket or folder.

The sad thing is, the dog knew to stay in the bag, which means it probably doesn't get much exercise. It was also really overweight.

I'm fine with guide dogs, of course.

There was actually a girl in that same class who had a guide dog in training with her. My school actually provides a college-credit animal class that gives these dogs to students to raise for six months. My school actually encourages them to bring the dogs to school and to all the classes.

And I think it's great, but bringing your own dog to school...really?

And I can't even tell you how many times I've seen people carrying their dogs around grocery stores and even in the carts.

I would love to take my dog with me everywhere, but it's not allowed and it's not allowed for a reason.

Does it bother you?

What are your opinions?

:)

My school allows GUIDE DOGS in the classroom.

I'm fine with dogs after hours and stuff, it would be a good place to socialize, but not during class. It just bothers me..

Haha, well, it bothers me because how do I know your dogs have obedience titles and stuff..you know?

And I don't have a problem with taking dogs to home depot, I've taken my dog there, I thought they allowed it...but not grocery stores. That's just gross to me. There are people that don't take care of their dogs, don't bathe or vaccinate them.

How am I to know if your dogs are taken care of or not?

And with the guide dog in the class, what if the chihuahua had some dog aggression issues or something and attacked the other dog? The guide dogs are still puppies and something like that could cause some issues with them...

Sorry, this is rant-y.

Okay, I guess what I'm trying to say is, I LOVE dogs and being around dogs, just not when I'm grocery shopping or studying in class.

It's just weird to me..

Marykate-hhahaha. I think I agree with you there. Like, I've seen dogs in carts at grocery stores but I think babies are just as gross with diapers, sitting in the cart..Eww.

That is horrible! I would have told the teacher.

I don't see anyone take them into the store but, I get annoyed when people get annoyed when I'm out the front with Toby, people seem to get their nose out of joint, even though there's nothing wrong with it.

That's really unhygienic to take a dog in a grocery store!

places like resturants, yes.
But if your school allows it, why not?

it would be a good place to socalize a puppy or a shy dog.
I actualy would bring my puppy to my school after hours so that he could be socalized. Alot of the people just thought he was cute, and htat it was a good idea.

It doesn't really bother me. Though it sure is stupid. What if the dog jumps out of the bag or something? He could make a mess, or bite someone. And dogs and clothes do NOT mix. Sure, it's cute, but it annoys the dog. I guess it DOES bother me, now that I think about it.

Not at all. I am a big fan of companion animals being welcome everywhere as long as they are leashed and well behaved. In fact, in many cases the owner is far more of a problem than the dog. And I also believe that the idea of service dogs should be opened to more than guide dogs, think of people with seizures who are assisted by their dogs, or the hearing impaired, or people with a difficult mental illness. Do not assume that because the dog is in a purse, it cannot be an assistance to its owner.

I like dogs too.
But yes, it bothers me, Not the dog, but the owners of the dog.
One time we were eating at a Jack in the box, and A mom with 2 kids, one in a stroller, the other about 8 yrs old with a poodle, its not a guide dog but they took it with them inside. Then the dog decided to go potty, both #1 and #2. What the heck!

Owners who doesnt put their dog in a leash are worst. I mean if their dog is well behaved and trained then its okay. But I have seen dogs growl at me, chase me, then the owner would just say, oh he/she doesnt bite. Yeah Right!

Owners who doesnt clean up after their dog mess are a pisser too. Park's grass ground should not be used as doggy toilet.

Service dogs don't bother me, I actually like seeing service dogs and the difference they are making to someones life. But general pet dogs, yes it bugs me!
In fact, I was in Costa with large group of friends this afternoon, and this lady walks in with her Cocker Spaniel. Ok, the dog was well behaved, lay down while the lady was in the queue, and didn't make a fuss, but it's an area that serves food and so that's unhygienic.
You either allow all dogs in, or no dogs at all. It's discriminative, what would they of said if I came in with a huge Pyrenean Mountain Dog- it's still a dog???

But bringing a dog to school, that is insane!!
