Any idea what's wrong with my pup?

Any idea what's wrong with my pup?

Postby RogerDodger on Fri Oct 23, 2009 8:13 pm

My puppy has got small scabs all over himself, and I can't figure out what from. They are on his belly, under his elbows, behind his shoulders, under his throat. There's TONS of them and I can't figure out why.

He had fleas when we first picked him up about 3 months ago. We got rid of them but we never saw any sign of scabbing from them biting him. It's possible he contracted them again, as I do frequent a dog park, but I bathe him after we get back home IMMEDIATELY (with a vet prescribed shampoo so it doesn't dry out his skin). After I bathe him I always check his fur (he's yellow/white, so fleas usually stand out on him) but I can't ever find a flea, just bits of scabs floating in his fur.

We took him to the vet and the vet said fleas were the cause but even he couldn't find any bugs on the pup. That's when he gave us the shampoo and said to use it after we bring him home from the park.

Dozer isn't scratching anywhere near as often now as he did when we KNEW he had fleas. I can't figure out what's wrong with him and was hoping someone here might have a suggestion?

---

The scabs were there before we started using the shampoo. We took him to the vet because of the scabs, and that's when we were given the shampoo.

I noticed the shampoo I used on my dog caused scabs. I think it irritated the skin.

I would take him to the vets it could be some kind of rash or some skin conditions as well if thats the cace he might need specal cream to help it.

My uncles dog had a skin condition what scabed the skin but the medication made him hungary all of the time.

is there a yellow plant in the park what looks pritty coz it could be a weed it is pousionus to hourses and irrotates humans skin so i am gessing the same might go for animals if they rub aganst it.

Try another vet. Sounds like a skin condition to me.

That's weird, usually they get them from fleas.
I don't know if this might help. But check out this site.
