adding hdd improve pc speed???

Postby Jose on Wed Oct 21, 2009 5:45 pm

I dont know whats going on. I thought i knew pretty much about pc maintenance. But this doesnt make any sense to me.

My pc was running very slow these days, tried everything like running antivirus, anti spyware, defragmenting C, uninstall junk sw, registry cleaning, system clutter removal..... and what not!! even my C drive has about 1.5 Gb free space, still pc slow as hell.

But today i was looking for some old college files, so i decided to connect my HDD from my old PC. I connected as Secondary Master disconnecting the CD Rom.When i booted, the pc is very fast just like I just installed the OS, evrything opens up as soon as i click. But then i removed the old HDD after copying necessary files. Again same old story. Slow....again...

So whats the hell is going on?????

I am thinking about connecting the old HDD permanently to improve the speed of my pc.

How much ram you got ? You need at least 2x-3x more hd space as you got ram.
The PC uses free HD space for swaping some inactive programs and data from memory to hard disk and using memory for active programs. This requires disk space.
Same happens to my PC.
You should delete some files or uninstall some programs.

There are two types of problems you may be suffering from.

#1 A sudden and dramatic drop in computer performance.

#2 A slow degradation in computer performance.

Sometimes these can easily be mixed up, as you suddenly notice how slow your PC has become slower, when it fact it has been slowing down for a while.

You can easily fix both of these issues by following these steps in the order below.

? Update you virus scanner.
? Defragment your computers hard drive.
? Run a free registry scan. Errors in the registry will slow your computer to a crawl.

If you have a slow PC here is the #1 solution if your Computer is Too slow this will make your computer run faster:

Wondershare registry optimizer.
